Tips for preparing your property for photography
Here is a quick guide on how to make the most of your property and get the best interior and exterior photography shots you can:
- Thoroughly clean whole house. vacuum carpets, mop hard floors, clean countertops, clean windows
- Turn all overhead lights and lamps ON
- Replace all burned out light bulbs
- Turn all TVs ON this gives more colour in the room
- Turn all computer screens ON
- Open blinds or curtain to let in outside light
- Remove personal photographs if you don't was them in your pictures
- Make all beds
- Remove small floor rugs or mats
- Place all shoes/jackets in cupboards
- Clear clutter
- Remove kid's toys
- Put utensils away
- Clear outside of refrigerator of magnets, papers, photos, etc.
- Remove dishes from sink, place in dishwasher
- Rubbish bins can be unsightly
- Hide away the pet food bowls
- Clean under bed, removing items that may show in the photos
- Remove personal bathroom supplies (shampoo, toothbrushes, deodorant, towels)
- Where possible hide away wires and if you need to unplug unused appliances and hide the cables.
- Lighting is important so ensure lights work which will give a warm feel to your property
- Preparing a room is a way of showing it at its best. This is can be done by temporarily repositioning furniture in a room to make it look bigger and putting lamps on tables and flowers in vases, or setting a table for dinner.
Exterior Property Photography:
- Close garage doors
- Remove cars from driveway and front of home
- Clean up landscaping mow the grass, trim shrubs, clear leaves)
- Remove empty planters
- Remove visible water hoses
- Remove washing lines
- Remove toys, sports balls, soccer goals, etc
- Hide wheelie bins
- Set out any garden furniture.
